Ornately carved column frieze element with floral & foliage detail. Old chestnut with bronze patina. Recognized in the classical architecture of Ancient Greece and Rome, the frieze is a long, narrow sculptural decorative band that spans the top of column capitals below the cornice. Circa 1840.
