Fantastic hand-painted nuptials trunk from Marche, ca late 18th century. Hand-painted on the front, top and side. The beautiful scenery in front is related to the family of the grooms domains and the family story. Unusually large for a hand-painted trunk; usually they are smaller but this one was most likely from an extremely affluent family. These types of trunks were used in the Marche region (between Tuscany and Venice) as a gift from the father of the bride and contained the spousal paraphernalia.
