17th Century Baroque Italian Carved Chestnut Leggio Music Desk or Lectern Table
Unique 17th Century Renaissance style chestnut leggio bookrest suitable as a reading, music desk or presentation lectern, as it is married with and permanently mounted to the 19th Century chestnut table base with similarly carved drawer, turned legs and crosspieces. The year "1662" is carved amidst a floral garland into the lower drop lid. Decorative engravings run the perimeter of both sides of the leggio. Top and lower hinged lids open to reveal the interior desk area containing 4 drawers beneath a shelf. Forged iron hinges and hardware. Circa 1662.
