Rare Antique Italian 18th Century Hand Painted Louis XV Cassone Commode Marchigiano
Unique Italian 18th century hand painted Louis XV "Cassettone" Marchigiano from the Center of Italy region of Marche Italy, circa 1740.
Important, unique Italian commode with incredibly fine original perfectly preserved painting and structure.
High level artistic commission it is showing on the details of the beautiful Grotesque (antique Roman paintings style found on the walls of basements of ruins in Rome that were called " le Grotte " the caves rooms and corridors of the Domus Aurea) and particularly in the busts depicting the Labours of Hercules fighting Nemean the Hercules fighting the Cretan Bull, father of the Minotaur on the top drawers. Particularly beautiful are the two Fauns on the lower drawer and the two front Cornucopia on the front edges from whom the Grottesche depart.
On the two sides there are two wonderful typical Marche landscapes, with sea, mountains and trees.
