This bust is a Late 19th century carved stone bust made of "Grisaglia', in Italian, a mix of stone powder and lime stones. The bust of Athena Lemnia features beautiful Greco-Roman attire with a ribbon around her head, along with a wonderful original patina and slight moss. Athena Lemnia, was a classical Greek statue of the goddess Athena. According to geographer Pausanias (1.28.2), the original bronze cast was created by the sculptor Phidias circa 450–440 BCE, for Athenians living on the island of Lemnos to dedicate on the Acropolis of Athens. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
